Squeaky Chairs Band had been bumming around in bars and basements near Athens, Ohio (but not just bumming; they all went to school at Ohio University) from the spring of 2009 through the summer of 2011.
They were either breaking strings and eardrums on stage at Jackie O’s bar (or wherever there was an open mic night), or recording original music in Beej’s closet or dorm room.
The band’s close friend Stanley came up with the name, which stems from the recurring squeaky chair(s) heard throughout Akron/Family’s self-titled album.
The lineup consistently included the following members:
Bill Delaney – guitar, vocals, alarm clock, bongos, car keys, weird noises, squeaky chair.
Jimmy Dillon Griffith – bass guitar, backup guitar, tree branches, spoon & jar, backing vocals, banjo, groupies, squeaky chair.
Benjamin (Beej/Butch) Wagner – vocals, guitars, violin, banjo, harmonicas, spoons, percussion, funny hats, squeaky chair.
Josh Lundfelt – keys, piano, drums, backup guitar, wicked harmonization, percussion, juggling eggs, triangle, squeaky chair.
Mr. Jeremy (pending member) –drums, guitar, vocals, pretty much anything, jingle bells, jangle bells.
